190cm tall, bass speaker cone, metal, wire, cardboard box, shipping labels and lights.
“Lost in transportation” is a sound driven sculpture that shakes in different ways at specific frequencies. 3 main frequencies were found, head bounce, arm dance and hip thrust. The sculpture rests on a 12 inch speaker cone, and low frequency tones are sent to it from a synthesizer. The box is covered with transportation labels of the “fragile, handle with care” type and is brightly lit from inside upwards through bubblewrap. Alongside this was a sealed box with faint high pitched screams that are only detected when close to the box. It’s a deeply personal piece that tries to deal with labeling and catergorization and yet still emerge unique, alive and “unboxable”
